COFFEE HISTORY: CAPUCHIN OR CAPPUCCINO
COFFEE HISTORY: CAPUCHIN OR CAPPUCCINO
What does this coffee drink Cappuccino have in common with Capuchin monkeys? They’re both named after the friars or monks of the order of the minor Capuchin. More precisely, the dark ring around the milk foam resembles the tonsure, the traditional haircut of the monks of this order. As does the fur of the primates. So enjoy your next cappuccino and spare a thought for the unknown monk that decided on a hairstyle and unknowingly christened a beverage as well as a species.
